If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, you may be a great candidate for veneers. Veneers are a revolutionary cosmetic dental treatment that can completely transform your smile. However, there are some things you need to know before starting your veneer journey. Keep reading to learn more about dental veneers and the process!
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are porcelain shells designed to look like the front side of teeth. They are permanently cemented to teeth to transform the smile’s appearance. Veneers are used to correct a variety of aesthetic tooth imperfections, such as:
- Discolored teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Short teeth
- Uneven teeth
- And more!
The Veneers Procedure
Veneers do not require teeth to be pulled. However, they do require a large amount of enamel to be removed in order to make room for the porcelain veneers. Because so much of the tooth is removed, the treatment is irreversible. Once the enamel is removed, digital impressions of the teeth are taken to ensure the new veneers fit perfectly on each tooth. Then, temporary veneers are placed while the impressions and instructions are sent to an off-site lab where they will create your permanent veneers. Once your permanent veneers are ready, your dentist will schedule an appointment to place them and make sure they fit just right!
