What Are Bridges?
A tooth bridge is a prosthesis that has crowns on either end with natural-looking replacement teeth in the middle. The crowns are used to hold the bridge in place by attaching to existing teeth or implants on both sides of the gap.
- Traditional Bridges
Traditional bridges are fixed in place to natural teeth on either side of the space.
- Implant-Supported Bridges
With advancements in modern dentistry, we can now snap a dental bridge onto two implants to keep the bridge in place.
Benefits of Dental Bridges
Dental bridges can provide an array of benefits for patients, including:
- Allowing them to eat, speak & smile naturally
- Keeping their bite and jaw aligned
- Maintaining their facial shape

What is the dental bridge process?
The first part of the dental bridge process involves removing some enamel from the abutment teeth, so there is room for a bridge to be placed over them. Then, impressions of the teeth are taken so your custom bridge can be created to fit in perfectly with the rest of your smile. A temporary bridge will be placed while your permanent bridge is being created, and we will ask you to come back for a follow-up appointment. Once your permanent bridge is ready, it will be placed using a special cementing process, and any necessary adjustments will be made. After we ensure that your new bridge feels comfortable and looks natural, the process is complete!
How do you care for a dental bridge?
Dental bridges should be cared for just like natural teeth. By maintaining a comprehensive oral care routine and scheduling regular dental visits at least twice per year, you are increasing the likelihood that your dental bridge will last for many years. There are no food restrictions for dental bridges, we simply recommend not using your dental bridge to do things like open packages, or chew on very hard or crunchy foods like ice, popcorn kernels, or hard candy. When treated properly, dental bridges can last 10 to 15 years or longer before they need to be replaced. Our team will inspect your bridge and other dental restorations during your biannual dental exams to ensure that they still look good and are functioning properly.
