What Are Dentures?
There are a few types of dentures that may be used to complete your smile. Full dentures are composed of a gum-colored acrylic base with false teeth attached. This option is used to replace an entire row of teeth and can be attached with either a dental adhesive or as little as four dental implants. Implant-supported dentures are often the preferred option as they offer improved stability and comfort.
Partial dentures are used to replace just a few missing teeth instead of a full row. They are constructed similarly to full dentures, but vary in size. Partial dentures also consist of a gum-colored acrylic base with false teeth, but they utilize metal clips to secure them to your remaining natural teeth. Though it is not always necessary, you can use a dental adhesive for added stability.
Unfortunately, there is no definitive dentures price. Each patient’s needs are unique, which can cause variation in the cost of treatment. At Michael Giovannini DDS, we do our best to provide low-cost dentures that can accommodate patients with an array of budgetary needs. How long do dentures last?
With proper denture care, your prosthesis can last anywhere between 10 and 15 years. Ensure you’re soaking your dentures in water or a denture-safe solution each night, bringing them into our office every six months for inspection, and brushing them daily.
Am I a candidate for dentures?
If you’re suffering from missing teeth and still have healthy gum tissue, you may be a candidate for dentures. During your dentures consultation, we’ll thoroughly inspect your dental hygiene, jawbone, and surrounding tissues to determine if dentures are the right treatment for you.
Are dentures removable?
Nearly all forms of dentures are removable. You will be given specific instructions for weartime upon placement, which could require you to leave them in for the majority of the day to allow your mouth to adjust. Details will be provided after your consultation and fitting.
